This fundamental class will develop the basic forward facing transition from close to open embrace and vice-versa. We will do a series of exercises and progress into a series of useful ‘bread and butter’ transitions for the social dance floor. The stately and sweet sounds of the late instrumental Carlos Di Sarli orchestra will be our platform.

This advanced class will demonstrate some of Cristina and Homer’s most useful and interesting transitions between open and close embrace. We will push your abilities to make smooth transitions in subtle and dynamic ways to the beautiful voice of a younger Alberto Podesta. Please consider taking the ‘Fundamentals of Transitions with Di Sarli’ class to brush up on basic concepts if need be.

This class will pull all the stops on transitions while moving to the music of the father of the ‘neo-tango’ music movement Astor Piazzolla. We will do very dynamic and sophisticated transitions in the standard forward facing embrace as well as transitions that break or change the embrace. The pace will be quick. We will not slow down. Please consider taking the advanced ‘Smooth Transitions with Podesta’ class as a pre-curser to getting warmed-up and better prepared for this master level class.

You, Me, then We. Dancing seperately yet together

It’s time to get more sophisticated with your syncopated foot work. This advanced class will address what it takes to get there. Leaders will investigate interesting independent movement to a variety of tango rhythms from ‘El Rey Del Compas’ himself Juan D’Arienzo. Followers will also work on creating specific syncopated answers from the ocho cortado and parada-pasada concept.

Build your understanding of the milonga rhythms from the ground up. We will explore moving to both the basic and syncopated rhythms of the ‘Godfather of Tango’ Francisco Canaro. Find where home is in the milonga as well as where and how the basic ‘rhythmic traspie’ occurs. For both leaders and followers alike.
